The most famous Turkish lentils soup! (Great for winter)

This is the most famous soup in Turkey and is usually made of the orange colour lentils only. But, I believe that it’s even more delicious when mixed with carrots and potatoes. This soup is called “Mercimek çorbası”.

It is amazing for the cold weather and so easy to make especially if you have a pressure cooker. But I’m going to use a normal pen.

Ingredients :

-The orange colour lentils. Depending on how many people you are cooking for but here I used 150 gr.

– 1 carrot.

– 1 small potato

In a pen, put the lentils after washing them, peel then chop the carrot and potato and add enough water to boil.

Add 1 tsp salt or up to taste, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and let it boil until everything is soft.

After it’s boiled, if you find it too thick, add some boiled water and blend it

When you blend the soup, add some dried mint.( I added 1 tbs) and boil it for 5 minutes.

In a pen, melt 1 tbsp of butter and add 1/2 tsp paprika. Mix them then add to your soup.

Sprinkle some more dried mint and squeeze some lemon!

I have this Mercimek soup with fish or chicken. I love it!

As Turkish people say: Afiyet olsun which means enjoy!
